Cultural introduction

Japan Culture Day (文化の日, Bunka no Hi), observed on 3 November, is a national holiday dedicated to celebrating culture, the arts, and academic achievement in Japan. Established after World War II, it reflects the country’s commitment to peace and the value of cultural development as a foundation for society.

On this day, museums often open for free, cultural awards are presented, and schools and communities hold exhibitions and performances showcasing traditional and contemporary Japanese arts. It is a moment to appreciate creativity in many forms—from classical practices like calligraphy and tea ceremony to modern expressions in design, music, and popular culture.
