Step into the magical world of Chinese shadow puppetry (中国皮影戏\, Zhōngguó pí yǐng xì)\, one of China’s oldest and most enchanting art forms! \n\n\n\nShadow puppetry is a traditional form of storytelling where intricately carved leather puppets are projected onto a screen using light. Through movement\, music\, and storytelling\, these puppets bring ancient tales of heroes\, folklore\, and legends to life. It commemorates the patriotic poet Qu Yuan\, who\, according to legend\, drowned himself in protest against political corruption. To honour him\, local people raced out in boats to try to save him or recover his body\, giving rise to the tradition of dragon boat racing. \n\n\n\nThe festival is also associated with warding off evil and promoting health.
